Basic home assessment

£250

A survey providing a basic understanding of your home, assessing damp, structural and retrofit readiness issues with simple recommendations for repair and maintenance, easy energy upgrades and links to trusted, local contractors.

What to expect

One of our team will call you to check your goals, collect some more information about yourself and your property and arrange a home visit by a Technical Officer.

The Technical Officer will do a basic home condition assessment. This involves a walk around the property inside and out, checking the condition of the overall fabric of your home (doors and windows, walls, roof), the existence and efficacy of any insulation (loft, wall, floor), discuss with you any issues regarding damp and mould and the types, age and condition of your power, heating and hot water systems.

The Technical Officer will review the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) on your home, talking through any changes or outstanding matters and discuss with you the likely suitability of your home for further retrofit measures.

The Technical Officer can also assess your personal circumstances to see if you could qualify for any national or local government grants or low cost loans and refer you on to any relevant schemes.

The Technical Officer’s Report will detail:

  • Any repair or maintenance work required to improve the overall condition and efficiency of your home.
  • Any changes you can make to the way you run your home that will help to increase efficiency.
  • The suitability and indicative cost of any further measures you could take to increase your home’s energy performance.
  • Your eligibility for any available grants and loans schemes.

Who this assessment is suitable for

  • Residents of Greater Manchester.
  • Homeowners.
  • You are planning to do some renovations or upgrades (eg new central heating) and want to explore greener options.
  • You have a relatively small budget and want to explore finance options.
